The special procedure used in this exercise is a little different from the normal procedure used in
most of the other exercises. This exercise only requires you to complete ONE step...

You can use this exercise whenever you are feeling bothered by anyone!
 

 
 DO THIS FIRST:

Whenever you have somebody bothering you, or hear something that upsets you...
like some bad news about someone, for instance...simply start counting backward from 8, while you talk about it as though you were having a conversation with yourself.
 
It can also be very helpful for you to repeat reminder phrases while you're counting. You SHOULD clear through all of these examples even if they don't apply to your own situation.

 
Also, wherever you see a blank space in a phrase, such as __________, please fill in the blank with your own appropriate response - if possible.
 


 
Who is bothering me (or has bothered me in the past)?

Please add more bothersome issues of your own to this list.


It is this consistent repetition, while concentrating on the bothersome issue, that gradually weakens and reduces your stress and anxiety levels down to zero: Repeated use effectively acts to reduce the amount of emotional intensity you're feeling from your troubling issue down to zero feeling. It's highly effective!


So, just keep counting everyday! It WORKS!
